Elementary Graduation Speech

On behalf of all my fellow fifth graders, I would like to thank the teachers, parents, family and friends for attending our fifth grade graduation.

To be honest, school has been a blast. Personally, my journey at Press Elementary began on a warm August morning in 2008. I was placed in Mrs. Pua’s class and from the first day, she worked tirelessly to teach me the alphabets, numbers phonics and reading. Thank you Mrs. Pua for setting a good solid foundation for me. You really made me look forward to come to your class every day. I am sure my fellow 5th graders have similar stories of a teacher or two who inspired them during those early years to succeed.

Press Elementary has gone a step further in providing additional learning environments beyond the four walls of the classroom. The educational trips to places such as the museum, the President Bush Library and UNT just to name a few have been priceless. Specifically the trip to University of North Texas (UNT) was very inspirational in that it re-enforced the Press Elementary motto “Every Kid College Bound No Excuses”. During the presentation at UNT I pictured myself as a college student pursuing my dream career of being an engineer. My fellow 5th graders, we should not let our individual dreams of pursuing a career in college slip away. The sky is the limit.

Well it has not been all work and no play at Press Elementary. We have had opportunities to play and interact informally with teachers and classmates. Events such as field day and family picnic are annual events that we all look forward to. However the grand finale was the 5th grade camp. My older brothers had talked so much about the different camps they had attended that I could not wait for my turn to go to camp. It was worth the wait. We got to spend 2 nights away from home and did stuff like fishing, hiking, kayaking and to crown it all the all you can eat buffet was awesome. Sorry Mom, I like your food but the buffet at camp was the best.

Graduation

Finally fellow fifth graders, as we look forward to our next stage in life at the middle school, let us commit to use all the knowledge and skills we have gained so far. By doing so we will be successful in all that is set before us. Let us be committed to be the best we can be and make our teachers, parents, family and friends proud of us.

Thank you.
